Employee Benefits & Business Owners
06.12.2024
As most employers will know, recruitment and retention can be a large part of any business, whether this is attracting the right people in or retaining them in the long term.
The cost of living has affected us all over the last few years and we are looking at ways to increase our income or reduce our outgoings.
One consideration for us all is whether we feel we are being paid enough but furthermore what is it that is going to keep us in the roles we are in.
Employers have responsibilities in terms of Workplace Pensions and whilst it is a legal requirement to have this in place for employees, it is still these additional costs that must be considered for any business. Employers will need to dig deeper as a result of Rachel Reeves recent budget, so these additional costs have to come from somewhere.
What a firm does in terms of employee benefits is often based upon affordability, expectations of new and existing employees, and general awareness of what is available.
For larger employers there is often a legacy where the pension scheme is concerned, perhaps alongside a Death in Service Scheme or other benefits such as Private Medical Insurance, Group Income Protection or Health Cash Plan Schemes.
We often see employers looking to offer more for their employees for a variety of reasons such as staff retention, more attractive overall benefits package or as a way meet the needs of employees and their expectations.
This all comes at a cost to any business, and we have seen an increase in an employer’s need to be more aware of its employees mental and physical wellbeing.
Potential job candidates will often be looking at the salary on offer, but it is likely that they will also be looking at the package in full, such as holiday allowance, sick pay, flexible working arrangements, incentives including Health Plans and salary sacrifice arrangements to mention a few.
Whether you are an employer looking to introduce a new benefits package to your employees or an employer looking at what you have in place and what more you can do, the Advisers at Sedulo Wealth can help. Advice has never been more important.
